Itinerary for this Tour
Day 1: Kasane to Chobe National Park – Botswana
At this start of your accommodated Botswana adventure, you will be collected from the airport in Kasane and transferred to our first lodge, bordering on Chobe National Park.
Settle into your en-suite room and have a rest after your journey, enjoying lunch at the lodge. Later this afternoon we set off on a sunset boat cruise along Chobe River. Our first game viewing activity in Chobe Park, the boat cruise is ideal for watching birds and animals at close range. Cruising along at an easy pace we are sure to see some of the regularly spotted animals – elephants, hippos, crocodiles, antelopes, buffalos and various other animals drawn to the river. Bird life along the river is prolific, with common sightings including the African Fish Eagle.
After our leisurely cruise, we return to the lodge for dinner and free time to relax at the comfortable safari lodge. Accommodation is in luxury rooms at Chobe Safari Lodge (or Chobe Bush Lodge) and includes meals, activities as per itinerary, laundry and local beverages.
Optional activities available in the Chobe region, include fishing and bird watching trips.
- Accommodation: Chobe Safari Lodge (or Chobe Bush Lodge)
- Meals included: Lunch & Dinner
- Activities include: Chobe boat cruises (includes park fees)
Day 2: Chobe National Park – Botswana
This morning we wake up early to take advantage of the cool morning hours when many animals are particularly active. We embark on a 4×4 game drive in Chobe National Park, searching out predators and prey in the scenic wilderness. Enjoy rewarding game viewing in Chobe which is rated as one of the best game viewing destinations in Africa and the top national park in Botswana.
Wildlife sightings include predators such as lions, leopards, African wild dogs, cheetahs, spotted hyenas and jackals. Chobe is, however, most famous for its huge elephant population, hosting one of the largest concentrations of elephants on earth. This beautiful wilderness area is also home to large herds of buffalos and plenty of other herbivores – zebras, giraffes and an impressive array of antelopes, including impala, tsessebe, roan, sable, bushbuck, waterbuck, puku and kudu.
Returning from our game drive you are free to rest and have lunch at the lodge, taking it easy during the heat of the day.
Later this afternoon we set off on our second sunset boat cruise along Chobe River. Again, enjoy outstanding bird watching and wildlife spotting as we cruise through Chobe at a gentle pace. During the cruise, we stop to take photos of birds and animals, admire the scenery and marvel at the sunset.
- Accommodation: Chobe Safari Lodge (or Chobe Bush Lodge)
- Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
- Activities include: game drive & boat cruise (includes park fees) in Chobe
Optional Extra Night:
Please note that you have the option of adding a third night (extra cost) at either of the Chobe lodges. The extra night at Chobe Safari Lodge (or Chobe Bush Lodge) provides the opportunity to visit Victoria Falls on an optional self-guided trip. The Victoria Falls trip is offered in place of the included game viewing activities and can be done instead of the morning game drive and sunset boat cruise in Chobe.
Day 3 & 4: Okavango Delta – Botswana
On day three we are up early for a morning game drive in Chobe National Park. After our last 4×4 exploration of Chobe, we return to the lodge for breakfast and get ready to depart.
Later this morning we transfer back to Kasane where we catch a charter flight into the Okavango Delta – the crowning natural treasure of Botswana.
Arriving at our next camp we have lunch and settle in, before heading out on the first game viewing activity of your choice. We usually embark on a game drive in the private concession, witnessing a beautiful sunset over the African bush. After dark, a powerful spotlight is used to search out nocturnal wildlife. By about 08h00 we arrive back at the camp, have dinner and relax under starry skies. Retire to your luxury en-suite tent overlooking the wild delta and tranquil lagoon.
Day four is spent exploring the wild Okavango Delta on your choice of game drives, mokoro rides, bush walks or boat trips, depending on the season and local conditions.
Morning and night game drives are conducted by a professional guide and a tracker, in a 4×4 safari vehicle. Seasonal mokoro and boat rides are also available, depending on water levels. Water levels are generally highest from May to September, yet water levels are often high enough to allow for water-based activities outside of this period (enquire when booking).
All of the camps offer seasonal bush walks, dependent on suitable walking conditions. Bush walks are conducted with armed rangers to ensure your safety in this big game territory. The delta camps offer exceptional birding and Pom Pom also offers seasonal fishing trips. Pom Pom Camp features a secluded hide where you can enjoy a bush dining experience by arrangement (please enquire). All three camp options are located in private concession areas in the beautiful southern region of the delta.
- Accommodation: Pom Pom Camp (or Rra Dinare or new camp)
- Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
- Activities included: Combination of bush walks, boat trips, mokoro rides & game drives
Day 5 & 6: Moremi Game Reserve – Botswana
On the morning of day five, there is time for one last safari activity of your choice before we leave our first camp in the delta. Depending on the time of your charter flight you can take a final mokoro ride, boat trip, game drive or bush walk. Then we have breakfast at camp and make our way to the airstrip for our charter flight to our next delta camp in the Moremi region.
Lunch is served at our new camp near Moremi Game Reserve, followed by free time and an afternoon game viewing activity. Bush walks are offered all year-round at the two safari camps in south-central Okavango Delta. Boat trips and mokoro rides are typically possible throughout the year along the more permanent waterways of this region. Birding and seasonal fishing trips are conducted at both camps too. Extended mokoro trips with picnic lunches, can be arranged from both Moremi Crossing and Gunn’s Camp during the wet season when water levels are high enough (please enquire).
Our last full day on safari in Botswana is spent soaking up the untamed beauty of the Okavango Delta. Set off on bush walks or water-based trips by mokoro or boat, experiencing the peace and wildness of the private concessions and Moremi Game Reserve. Lauded as one of Africa’s finest wildlife havens, Moremi is a diverse and wildlife-rich sanctuary of incredible unspoilt beauty.
Tonight we spend our last night sleeping in luxury safari tents set in the pristine African bush, miles away from modern civilization.
- Accommodation: Moremi Crossing (or Gunn’s Camp)
- Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
- Activities included: Bush walks, boat trips & mokoro rides
