Head into wildest Africa, where predators reign and the game roams freely across the open plains. Travel across rough terrain in an overland adventure vehicle made to explore the African wilderness. Experience the two most famous game parks in Africa – Kenya’s Masai Mara and Tanzania’s Serengeti Park – encountering the Big Five and an abundance of other wildlife. Add to the mix beautiful and wildlife-rich destinations: Lake Naivasha and Nakuru in Kenya, then Lake Victoria and the famous Ngorongoro Crater.

An exhilarating journey through East Africa, designed for energetic, young travellers with a real sense of adventure.

Itinerary for this Tour

Day 1: Nairobi – Kenya

Arrive in Nairobi any time today and meet up with your group this evening for a tour briefing.

Explore the capital of Kenya choosing from the plenty of things to do in Nairobi, before the safari begins. 

Day 2: Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park – Kenya

First stop in Kenya – one of the most beautiful Great Lakes of the East African Rift Valley – Lake Nakuru. Along the way to Lake Nakuru National Park we pause at viewpoints to enjoy the lovely views of the Great Rift Valley and stop to enjoy a boat ride on Lake Naivasha. Look out for your first wild animals on the boat ride – including heavyweights – crocodiles, buffalos and hippos – and lots of birds.

Arriving at Lake Nakuru we take a game drive in our custom-made overland vehicle; looking out for rhinos, giraffes, zebras, waterbuck and even lions and leopards, amongst other wildlife.

Day 3: Lake Nakuru National Park to Masai Mara – Kenya

Head south to the top reserve in Kenya – Masai Mara, considered by many as the ultimate wildlife destination in Africa. Set off on a game drive in Masai Mara National Reserve, hosting an incredible abundance and diversity of wild animals. This is quintessential Big Five country, known for its big cat populations (lion, cheetah and leopard) and the Great Migration – an awe-inspiring annual wildlife spectacle.

You have the option of visiting a Maasai village to get a glimpse into Maasai life and buy some local crafts.

Day 4: Masai Mara Game Reserve – Kenya

The whole of day four is spent exploring Masai Mara, arguably the most famous safari destination on the planet. The stunning scenery and superb wildlife sightings make for exceptional photographic opportunities.

We explore the African bush in the customised tour vehicle, a specially designed overland adventure truck.

Day 5: Masai Mara to Kisii – Kenya

Set off into Masai Mara this morning on our final game drive in Kenya. Look forward to memorable wildlife sightings out on the acacia studded savannahs. 

Then we leave the legendary land of Mara behind making our way into the lush hills of Kisii, the top tea-growing region in Kenya.

Day 6: Kisii to Lake Victoria – Tanzania

Today we cross from Kenya into Tanzania, an equally legendary safari destination. Tonight we camp on the shores of Lake Victoria, the largest lake in Africa, enjoying sunset and excellent bird watching.

Day 7: Lake Victoria to Serengeti National Park – Tanzania

An exciting day lies ahead, as we venture into the world-famous Serengeti National Park, one of the most epic wildlife destinations on earth. The Great Migration can also be witnessed in Serengeti, with massive herds of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles stampeding across the plains in season.

Get ready for the game viewing experience of a lifetime out on the beautiful wild plains of Serengeti, teeming with African wildlife.

Day 8: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater – Tanzania

This morning we embark on a game drive in the spectacular Serengeti National Park, scanning the rolling plains for the multitude of big cats, other predators and herbivores roaming freely.

From the Serengeti Plains we drive up into the highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, another of the top Northern Safari Circuit game parks of Tanzania.

You have the option of pre-booking a hot-air balloon ride over Serengeti in the morning – the most sublime way to gaze out over the vast wilderness and watch for wildlife.

Day 9: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha – Tanzania

Get up bright and early for your last game drive in Tanzania. We head down into the Ngorongoro Crater in a 4×4 safari vehicle, looking for the abundance of wildlife found here. The crater is home to one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa, which means the sightings are close-up and abundant!

After our last game viewing adventure in Tanzania we drive to Arusha, at the foot of Mount Meru.

Day 10: Arusha to Nairobi – Kenya

Drive north, passing Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance, before crossing back into Kenya and continuing through the rural Masai lands. Arriving in Nairobi late this afternoon your East African adventure comes to an end.
