Itinerary for this Tour
Day 1: Johannesburg to Kruger National Park, South Africa
Guests are collected from OR Tambo International Airport or from their guesthouse within a five km radius of the airport. We set off on a scenic drive to Kruger National Park by way of small towns and the Panorama Route.
We bypass the small town of Dullstroom, where visitors are lured by the opportunity for some trout fishing, on our way to the dramatic landscape that is the very popular Panorama Route.
Have your cameras ready for the breathtaking sights, the most famous being the Blyde River Canyon, renown as the third largest canyon in the world but which most definitely takes first prize for lushness in this semi-tropical area. Forming part of the Drakensberg Escarpment the winding canyon drops to 800 metre, in places, into the riverbed.
The are many other photo opportunities along the route and the sights tend to have been named according to what they represent, for example, the Three Rondavels are three huge spirals of dolomite rock rising out of the far wall of the Blyde River Canyon and look like traditional African village homes. The ‘Bourke’s Luck Potholes’ have taken thousands of years to form strange cylindrical sculptures carved by swirling water.
This plateau has high rainfall which has created many beautiful waterfalls and there is rich and varied plant life here. Keep an eye for the wildlife that roams this area. You may spot monkeys, rock rabbits, buck and baboons.
Before driving to Hazyview, where our lodge is located, we make a last stop at Graskop where there is an opportunity for some retail therapy in the many curio shops.
Then it’s on to our lodge with time to relax and freshen up before dinner. We spend the rest of the evening getting to know our fellow travellers.

Days 2: Kruger National Park, South Africa
The next morning we are up very early for our full day of wildlife viewing in Kruger National Park. Early morning is one of the best times of day for seeing wildlife, as they begin to emerge from their night’s rest and head to the waterholes. We take a packed breakfast with us so that we don’t waste any time setting out.
Our guide takes us into the southern region of Kruger National Park, which is considered to have a much higher density of wildlife compared to the northern sector. It’s known for its sheltered valleys which are home to trees that are rarely found elsewhere in the park. The granite outcrops found in this area are ideal habitats for leopard, Klipspringer and baboon.
Most of Kruger’s White Rhino are found in the southern region of the park and numbered at 2 600 represent the largest population found in Africa. Other wildlife found in this region includes giraffe, zebra, Impala, Kudu, Buffalo, White Rhino and elephant as well as cheetah and wild dog.
The open safari vehicles used on this tour are the most modern and ensure that everyone has good viewing and photo opportunities.
We break during the day for breakfast and lunch (own account) at one of the rest camps in the park.
We aim to return to our lodge around 15:30 so that there is time for relaxation before dinner. Indulge yourself in a spa treatment, admire the garden with its prolific birdlife or dive into the sparkling pool to cool off after a day in the bushveld.

Day 3: Kruger National Park to Johannesburg, South Africa
There is time for one more foray into Kruger before we depart for Johannesburg.
Taking our packed breakfast we board our open game viewing vehicle hoping to see the elusive wildlife we may have missed yesterday. Our knowledgable guide knows where are the best places in the park to find the wildlife, so fingers crossed.
Back at the lodge around 11:00 we prepare to leave and board our transfer vehicle back to Johannesburg where we expect to arrive between 17:00 and 18:00.
