Budget 3 Day Kruger Park Lodge Safari
Summary of this Budget Safari Package
This Budget 3 Day Kruger Park Lodge Safari takes us into the Greater Kruger National Park and the privately owned, crowd-free Klaserie Reserve.
The large, 6000 hectare traversing right in Klaserie and the unfenced border with the Kruger National Park provides ample opportunity for exciting wildlife sightings including the Big 5 of Africa. And because there are a limited number of camps in Klaserie it’s unlikely that you will encounter other safari vehicles, when out in the bush. Enjoy a true safari experience and take a bush walk with an experienced guide, whose knowledge of the secrets of the terrain is immense. This is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the African bush and there is always the chance of running into the local inhabitants.
Our family-friendly lodge is built for comfort, whilst maintaining the ambience of a safari experience. The pool area is perfect for cooling off and relaxing, whilst watching the wildlife pass by and the evenings around the campfire in the boma are an opportunity to get to know your fellow travellers and share the exciting experiences of the day.
Itinerary for this Tour
Day 1: Johannesburg to Klserive Private Reserve, Greater Kruger National Park
We leave Johannesburg behind and head for the Greater Kruger National Park in our shuttle transfer, arriving at the lodge gates around 13:15, where we are collected by a guide from our camp. Driving to our camp through Klaserie is our first opportunity to spot wildlife. After a brief check-in, it’s time to enjoy lunch and relax before departing on our sunset, wildlife viewing drive in the early evening in open safari vehicles. Klaserie Private Reserve is home to the Big 5 of Africa (lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino), which roam freely in this huge traverse of 6000 hectares, alongside giraffe, zebra, a variety of antelope and many other species. As the sun sets we make our way back to camp, keeping an eye out for the nocturnal creatures as they begin their search for an evening meal.
Back at camp, we may take the opportunity to clean up before enjoying a pre-dinner drink, then dinner served in the boma. It’s time to relax, marvel at the starry skies and relive the events of the day with your fellow guests.
Day 2: Klaserie Private Reserve
This morning we are woken bright and early as daybreak is the best time for sighting wildlife. Our early wake up is tempered with coffee or tea and confectionaries before we set out in search of animals in our open safari vehicles, which provide the best viewing advantage for spotting wildlife and taking great photos. The wildlife will be making their way to the waterholes for early morning refreshment, so we head that way guided by our experienced rangers and Shangaan trackers. In Klaserie the wildlife is habituated to the safari vehicles, so it’s possible to get really up close and personal.
There is only a handful of lodges in Klaserie which means guests are unlikely to come across each other as they roam through this beautiful landscape. Birdlife is prolific and there are many species to be found such as various eagles, owls, francolins, kingfishers, rollers and weavers among the over 300 recorded.
After an exciting 3 hour safari, we head back to camp for a welcome hearty breakfast. There is an opportunity now to go out on a 45 minute bush walk with a ranger and Shangaan tracker. This is a once in a lifetime chance to immerse yourself in the tranquil African bush and learn from the ranger the meaning behind the easily overlooked signs, the intriguing plants and the tiniest creatures that survive in this natural habitat. Stay close to your tracker as he tracks the wildlife – you may just come face to face with one of the wild creatures.
Back at camp, it’s time for some relaxation, maybe a dip in the pool to cool off before lunch is served in the early afternoon. Then it’s back into our safari vehicle and another opportunity to add to your list of wildlife spotted as we embark on a sunset wildlife viewing drive. Dinner is served in the boma before we head to our comfortable lodge for our final night in the African bush.
Day 3: Klaserie Private Reserve to Johannesburg
We wake up early and refresh ourselves with coffee or tea and confectionaries before heading out on our final wildlife viewing drive. The guides are passionate about wildlife and the wilderness and will do their utmost to ensure the best experiences for guests. A hearty breakfast waits at camp, after which we prepare for our departure. There is time to relax as we wait for our shuttle to arrive to transfer us back to Johannesburg.
About Klaserie Game Reserve in Greater Kruger Park
This South African Walking Safari visits the exclusive Klaserie Private Game Reserve in the Greater Kruger Park area.
The privately owned Klaserie Game Reserve falls within Greater Kruger Park, sharing unfenced boundaries with Kruger National Park proper and the Timbavati Reserve. Sharing unfenced borders with Kruger Park means that the abundant wildlife roams freely between these Big Five game parks.
Klaserie Park, known for its excellent game viewing, covers 60 000 hectares of unspoiled wilderness on either side of the Klaserie River. The abundant wildlife in Klaserie includes Africa’s Big Five – lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo.
The main advantage of visiting Klaserie Park is that access to the wilderness area is limited to guests staying at the handful of intimate safari lodges within the private game reserve, ensuring an uncrowded and exclusive safari experience.
Klaserie offers a unique safari adventure, free from the stresses of modern living and far away from the crowds of tourists.
We explore the vast wilderness of Greater Kruger on game drives and bush walks in the Klaserie, which encompasses a variety of habitats hosting a wide array of wild animals and birds.
